Atlas V
Technical direction and VR performance across a slate of immersive productions
The challenge
Shipping VR with Atlas V means working at a high bar: in stereo, at 90+ Hz, with a level of visual fidelity normally reserved for flat-screen productions. Each production has to hold a sustained framerate without sacrificing the look the creative direction set.
What we did
- Technical direction across the rendering pipeline, defining the rules artists and designers could rely on without becoming GPU experts themselves.
- Performance audits at every milestone, with reproducible profiling captures and a backlog of prioritised optimisations.
- Full Tech Art contribution: VFX, custom shaders and lighting, all built to hold up at VR framerates without breaking the intended look.
- Pipeline automation for GPU profiling, so the team could detect regressions before they shipped.
